LETTER 92-01, REVISION 1, " REACTOR VESSEL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY, l
10 CFR 50.54(f)," FOR NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2 l
By letter dated July 2,1992, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NMPC) responded to Generic Letter 92-01, Revision 1.
The NRC staff has reviewed the NMPC response and identified the need for additional information in order to complete the review.
Specifically, we noted that Table 5.3-1 of the Updated Safety Analysis Report indicates that the initial upper-shelf energy (USE) values for beltline materials are estimated values.
In order to complete our review, the staff requires a description of this estimation method and information that demonstrates that all beltline plates and welds will meet the USE requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix G.
In order to facilitate timely resolution of this matter, we request that NMPC provide this information in writing within 60 days of receipt of this letter.
l This requirement affects one respondent and, therefore, is not subject to Office of Management and Budget review under P.L.96-511.
