AP600
SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF MEETING TO DISCUSS COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION MANAGEMENT.
FOR THE AP600 DESIGN EFFORT-On June 17, 1993, representatives of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)2 and Westinghouse met to discuss computerized information management forcthe>.
AP600 design effort. is a list of attendees. 'is the slide presentation provided by Westinghouse.
The staff opened the meeting stating that the Commission was looking into.
how best-to imp' rove its computer and el_ectronic' environment so that it could operate more efficiently, reduce response time, and reduce the quantity of paper currently required to perform its. Job. The staff was looking,at:
industry's efforts to computerize management of information and to communicate electronically. The staff was also evaluating the potential legal consider-i ations that could affect a tie-in of the NRC with the industry in.these-areas.
Westinghouse then provided an overview of their information management system.
They discussed the various guidelines that they followed'when they developed their information management programs.
The vendor demonstrated the actual tool.s it used for collecting and documenting data.
In addition, they demon-strated the CADCAM system they are using for plant modeling of the AP600 design.
]
Dur'.ng the meeting, Westinghouse raised the question of using video conferenci
-ing between the applicant and the NRC staff.
The meeting was closed with a discussion regarding how information submitted on the AP600 docket (SSAR, PRA', responses to requests for additional informa-tion) could be handled electronically between Westinghouse and'the staff.
