NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-285/93-04
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. Mullikin and R. Azua of
this office on March 14 through April 24, 1993.
The inspection included a
review of activities authorized for your Fort Calhoun Station facility.
At
the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with you and
those members of your staff idei.*if % in the encl ~ ed report.
Areas examined during the inspet.;i n ace identified in the repurt. Within
these areas, the inspection co..:- ":o of selective examinations of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
activities in progress.
The purpose of the inspection was to determine
whether activities authorized by the license were conducted safely and in
accordance with NRC requirements.
Based on the results of this inspection, certain licensed activities appeared
to be in violation of NRC requirements.
This violation involved the failure
to follow the requirements specified in a radiation protection procedure.
However, in view of the minor safety significance of the violation, and the
corrective action that is being proposed to prevent recurrence, the violation
meets the criteria specified in 10 CFR Part 2. Appendix C, Section Vll.B.1, of
the Enforcement Policy for noncited violations, and no enforcement action will
be taken.

It is our understanding that you made a commitment to redesign the
radiologically controlled area entry point to provide more positive control
over individuals cntering.
