SUBJECT:
CLOSE0VT SURVEY OF TORRENCE EXTRUSION CORPORATION FACILITY This letter refers to the special closeout survey conducted on January 19, 1993, of the facility formerly occupied by Torrence Extrusion Corporation, located at the same address, during the period of May 29, 1967, through October 26, 1970.
Licensed activities were previously authorized by AEC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-01034. This special inspection was conducted by Mr. Michael Cillis of this office and Mr. Kim S. Wong, State of California, Department of Health Services. This letter also refers to the discussion held by Mr. Cillis and Mr. Wong with yourself at the conclusion'of the closecut survey, regarding the results of our confirmatory measurements conducted during the inspection.
The enclosed copy of the inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. The inspection consisted of a selective examination of representative records from the former files, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with the current building owner.and tenants.
Based upon the results of this inspection,.we have concluded that the former licensee's facility was successfully decontaminated in accordance with current' NRC guidelines for release of facilities for unrestricted use.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
