Reference (a) requested licensees to implement actions to prevent the initiation of a -
i complete loss of decay heat removal, mitigate the effects of a loss of decay heat removal event to prevent core damage, and provide a closed containment if the core uncovers during a loss of decay heat removal event. This letter documents the completion of all necessary action items for Zion Station Unit 2 which resulted from the generic letter, t
Commonwealth Edison Company's response to reference (a) as it applies to Zion.
Station Units 1 and 2 was included in references (b), (c), (d) and (e). This response l
identified the need to perform a hardware modification to the Reactor Vessel Level Indicating System (RVLIS) to address the concerns described in NRC Generic Letter l
88-17. The RVLIS modification was completed on Unit 2 during the recent refuel outage 1
(Z2R12). Therefore, all necessary actions related to NRC Generic Letter 88-17 for Zion-l Station Unit 2 have been completed.
