Dear Mr. Gary:
I thought it might be helpful to give you an interim report on the status of our review after seeing your letter of January 15, 1993, in which you commented on a brief filed by the GPU Nuclear Corporation in response to your 2.206 petitian.
You also included eight questions directed to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).
We have forwarded your January 15, 1993, letter and the additional information you submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on December 2, 1992, to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
We have also forwarded to FEMA, for their consideration, your letter of February 14, 1993, and the accompanying letter of February 8, 1993, from Harrisburg Mayor Stephen R. Reed.
FEMA has informed the NRC that it will need more time to properly consider the concerns in your 10 CFR 2.206 petition and the additional questions raised and information provided in your submittals of December 2,1992, January 15, 1993, and February 14, 1993.
FEMA expects to report the results of its assessment to the NRC by June 30, 1993. My decision in response to your request will be made as soon as practicable following receipt of FEMA's report.
