Dear Mr. Michaels:
The General Electric Company, Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC)

maintains the General Electric Test Reactor.(GETR) under a possess'only licenset(License TR-1,. Docket 50-70).
The: license has an= expiration date of_ october 1 1992.
When the Technical
-Specifications for the license were, generated, it was.contem--

-plated.,to use-the: facility for reactor decommissioning training.

Revised Technical-Specifications and a SAFSTOR plan are enclosed.

radiation levels prior to final decommissioning.

The proposed Technica.'. Specifications limit License TR-1 to the reactor building and :.ts ventilation system.
Auxiliary systems formerly held under TR-1 will be transferred to California License 0017-60.
This transfer is consistent with tho' possess only licenses for two other reactors on the VNC site (Licenses =
DPR-l'and DR-10 for the VBWR and EVESR facilities).
Although the GETR facility will be considered to be in the
,b SAFSTOR mode, the proposed Technical Specifications will permit i
VNC to perform additional. removal and disposal of radioactive equipment from the reactor building..
l A renewal fee check for $150.00 is enclosed.
