This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. R. Person and
Mr. J. Furia of this office on June 4-8, 1990, of activities authorised by
NRC License No. DPR-59, and to the discussions of our findings held by
Mr. R. Person and Mr. J. Furia with you and other members of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspection.

Areas exsvined during this inspection included transportation of radioactive
materials and solid radwaste processing, as described in the NRC Region I
l
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,

the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
t
reprosentative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by, the
inspectors.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed. : However,
the use of a shipping cask gasket be*,ond its expiration date was categorised
as a non-cited violation as descr.oed in Section 3.2-of the enclosed
d
inspection report.
