During May 15-24, 1990, the NRC administered requalification examinations to employees of your organization who operate your Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant.
At the conclusion of the examination, any generic. findings that evolved as a result of the examinations were discussed with those members of your staff J
identified in the enclosed report.
z As a result of this evaluation of your requalification program it has been assigned an overall program rating of satisfactory in accordance with the criteria of NUREG-1021. ES 601. For those individuals with unsatisfactory results, the facility should take corrective action as required by its NRC approved requalification program.
As a result of the examinations, a weakness was noted in knowledge of the Steam feed Rupture Control System (SFRCS) as demonstrated during the job Performatice Measures (JPM) questions and the written examination.
This weakness is forwarded for input into the Davis-Besse SAT requalification program and the fecility is requested to inform the region within 30 days of dctions to be taken to incorporate SFRCS in the requalification program.
The NRC has scheduled the next NRC Requalification Cxamination for November 1991 to coincide with the licensee's requalification schedule. This schedule change is in accordance with the request in the licensee's letter to Dr. Murley of April 20, 1990 and is contingent upon a plont specific simulator on site or asi approved alternate backup facility being available.
In acordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter ano the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room, a
