Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. 01aine Murray of this office
during the period May 8-10, 1990, of activities authorized by NRC Operating
License DPR-34 for the Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station, and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. D. W. Evans and other members of your staff
at the conclusion of the inspection on May 10, 1990.
Areas examined during the inspection included portions of the radiation
protection program. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the inspector.
The inspection findings are
documented in the enclosed inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
The inspector identified three open items involving training of contractor
radiation protection technicians, radiological controlled area and personnel
contamination surveys, and controls for the hot service facility.
These open
items are discussed in paragraphs 5 and 8 of the enclosed inspection report.
