Gentlemen:

This refers to the routine. safety inspection conducted by Mr. M. P. Huber of
this office on May 14-18, 1990, of activities at the Callaway Nuclear Plant,
Unit 1, authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-30 and to the discussion
of our findings with Mr. D. E. Young and others of your staff. at the. conclusion
of the inspection. This inspection was conducted to review the Inservice
'
. Testing (IST) program implementation and the status of the licensee's program
',
to address lE Dulletin 85-03 regarding motor operated valves.

'The er. closed copy of our inspection report identifies area examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and represcntative records, observations, and

interviews with personnel.
No violations of.NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
-
inspection.
'
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of -
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
