Dear Mr.. Bailey:
Our staff has completed its review of the document entitled, "Conquista Project:
Application for Termination of Radioactive Material License No. 9 1634 " dated June 3, 1985.
Our review covered the complete document.
It appears that several of our previous consnents remain (mresolved. Specifically, the reclamation plan concept appears to
-involve ground water impacts which are not only unnecessary, but also unwarranted in light of current reclamation technology.
Similarly.. the radon exhaltion rates predicted by the licensee remain unverified by actual field measurements.
A complete discussion of these items as well
.as other sections of the reclamation plan are detailed in the enclosed
, staff review memorandum.
Please be advised that I will gladly provide technical. assistance to your staff and review additional Conoco
, proposals, if you so desire.
