Gentlemen:

This refers to the routine unannounced, physical security inspection conducted

by Mr. J. R. Kniceley of this office on May 7-11, 1990, of activities at

D. C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2- authorized by NRC Operating Licenses

No. DPR-58 and No. OPR-74 and to the discussion of our findings with

Mr. 'K. Baker and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during

the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and

interviews with personnel.

,

.During this inspection, one licensee identified item appeared to be in

violation of NRC requirements.

The inspection showed that actions have been

taken to correct the identified violation and to prevent recurrence.

Consequently, no reply to the violation .is required and we have no further

questions regarding this matter at this time. The violation is not being

cited because the criteria specified in 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C,

Section V.G. of the Enforcement Policy were satisfied.

Areas examined during this inspection concern a subject matter which is exempt

.from disclosure according to Part 73, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations,

Section73.21(c)(2). This information must be handled and. protected in

accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 73.21.
