RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETIN 90-02 FOR THE CLINTON POWER STATION (TAC 76325)

HRC Bulletin 90-02, " Loss of Thermal Margin Caused by Channel Box Bow,"

dated March 20, 1990, was issued to request that licensees determine whether any channel boxes are being re-used after their first bundle lifetime and, if so, to ensure that the effects of channel box bow on the critical power ratio are properly taken into account.

By letter dated A)ril 17, 1990, Illinois Power responded to this Bulletin and stated that tiey do not have any channel boxes in use for a se:ond bundle lifetime, do.not have any plans at this time to re-use channel boxes, and will implement a procedure change to require a safety analysis be performed prior to specifying a fuel channel box be used for a second bundle lifetime.

This response satisfies the reporting requirements of NRC Bulletin 90-02.
