Site Characterisation Plan (SCP) Progress Reports Yucca Mountain Project staff coupleted the review of compiled input for the Project Mchnical Status Report for the period of October 1989, through March 1990.

We Yucca Mountain Project Office (Project Office) submitted a final draft of the TSR to the U.S. Department of Energy / Headquarters (DOE /HQ) on May 11, 1990.

SCP Connents ne technical review of public questions and comments made during the March-April 1990, Public Update Meetings continued. Comments made by the technical leads are being incorporated.

SCP Study Plan Status: May 11, 1990 Screening reviews were ceapleted for draft Study Plan 8.3.1.17.4.5,

Sample Management racility personnel continued processing prototype core and cuttings from the Apache Leap, Arizona, site.

Quality Assurance The integrated Office of Civilian Radioactive Weste Management /nacca Mountain Project Quality Assurance Requirements Document and the Quality Assurance Program Descr.iption wre submitted for-U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Connission (NRC) review and approval on April 13, 1990. Comment resolution, if required, is scheduled to begin on May 14, 1990.

Exploratory Shaft racility (E$r) l Project E8r staff attended the EST Alternative Studies Task 4 h am meeting.

Staff also attended a briefing on the preliminary results of the Calico Hills study..

Long Range Planning (LRP) and Project Planning and Control-System (PACS)

Phase 2 activities for the LRP update continued on schedule.

Devetlopment of the PACS Inglementation Schedule Plan'was completed.

A meeting to present the plan to the participant PACS representatives.has been planned.

Draft procedures to support the PACS are scheduled for completion f

next week.

Environmental Permitting A draft of the first Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan i

Progress Report was completed. We report, which covers monitoring activities from September 15, 1988, to September 30, 1989, is being reviewed by the Project Office prior to D0t/HQ review.

Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board Meetings and Interactions-No significant interactions to report.
