CLOSE0HT OF GENERIC LETTER 89 13 " SERVICE WATER SYSTEM PROBLEMS-

'AFFECTING SAFETY-RELATED EQUIPMENT." FOR TNE V0GTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT (VEGP), UNITS.1 AND 2-(TACS 74079/74080):

On July 18. 1989, the NRC staff issued Generic _ Letter (GL) 89 13 requesting' licensees to advise the NRC whether they have established programs to implement reconsnendations 1-V of GL 89-13, or established equally effective alternatives.

Your response of January 25, 1990, (ELV.01212) stated that Georgia Power-Company will ensure that:the-intent of G1 89 13 is met for VEGP and that--

existing' programs will be revised or new prograns developed to accomplish this objective.. Enclosure 2 of your response adequately addresses each of the GL 89-13 recommendations as they apply to the. safety.related service water systems at VEGP. Accordingly, your response provides sufficient basis for closure of, NRR's' review of this matter. Any further NRC action will be pursued through-the inspection or eudit process.
