' Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letter of April 6,1990, confirming Mr. Walden's discussion

<

of March.30, 1990, with Mr. T. Gwynn. As Mr. Gwynn stated in that discussion,

you have been given a 60-day extension-(until May 31,..1990) to complete

corporate audits of safeguards information controls. However, as stated in our

.

April 5,1990, letter'to you, we have a continuing concern over the timeliness

of completing corrective actions for this matter, which was cited as a

violation lin NRC Inspection Report 50-298/89-34. We, therefore, request that

'

when the corporate audit'is completed you formally notify us of the synopsized

results of the audit and how Nebraska Public Power District plans to shorten

the implementation schedule for future licensee-identified violations. As'your

. January 22, 1990,- response to the' violation stated, this issue.was identified

by the Quality Assurance Department in March of 1989, and-as your staff has

'

indicated, corrective actions may not be complete until the end of May 1990.

,

We will review the results of your corporate audit during a future-inspection

to determine that full. compliance has been achieved and will be maintaired.
