SHOREHAM NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT 1 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has granted the enclosed exenption from certain requirements of 10 CFR 50.54(w). The exemption grants partial relief from the required minimum coverage limit of 1.06 billion dollars for onsite l
property damage until such time that authorization is grante6 to transfer j
ownership of the Shoreham plant to some other entity, or LILCO places nuclear fuel into the Shoreham reactor vessel. The exemption is in response to your September 8,1989 request, and requires that you continue to maintain 337 million dollars in insurance coverage.
Based on the staff's evaluation con +ained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has granted your request for exemption l
pursuant to 10 CFR 50.12. The exemption is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication. This completes our action related to the above referenced TAC number.
