The proposed alternative involves use of Liberty Technol-ogy Center's "Quickcheck" system. The acoustic. monitor-
.ing technique will be used when total header flow is' established at accident condition levels. In' addit 1on, this test instrumentation will be used to detect check-valve degradation when full open testing is performed.
The objective of inservice testing to detect component degradation is therefore fulfilled from two standpoints. A program verifying this equipment's, capability was . conducted by the Wuclear Industry Check Valve Group (NIC) -! at the Utah State University flow test loop as witnessed-by various representative from-the Nuclear Reactor. Regulators. Extensive verification testing was performed l on various valves to verify the test equipment could indicate full open/ closed position and detect internal- . ; valve degradation. Tlie -acoustic' monitoring equipment ' consists of acceler-ometer field sensors and a. portable data acquisition unit used in conjunction with computer. based data analysis , software. The data acquisition equipment = will be cali-brated on an 18-month frequency-to meet National Bureau of Standards criteria. This frequency is chosen to parallel the 18-month refueling outage schedule.
