Subject:
Radiation Protection Managers' Conference The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region I, is planning a conference for power reactor Radiation Protection Managers (RPMs) and their deputies. The conference is scheduled for May 23-24, 1990, at King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
The purpose of this conference is to exchange information between NRC and licensee staffs on issues of mutual interest relating to power reactor radiological controls programs. Members of my staff have contacted your RPM as well as RPMs at other stations within Region I in order to identify topics of particular interest.
As a result of our initial contacts, we plan to make presentations on NRC requirements and expectations in such areas as High Radiation Area access control, hot particle controls, and radiation exposures to females. We also plan to discuss the status of the proposed 10 CFR 20. Topics such as sne EPA Clean Air Act reporting requirements, transportation activities, low level waste storage, laboratory measurements, and effluent monitors will be included if sufficient interest is expressed in these areas. We encourage licensee staffs' participation, presentations, and frank discussions during the conference.
j We are inviting you to send your RPM and his deputy or other person in a similar capacity to the conference. To facilitate planning, we would like you to inform us of the names of your staff members who plan to attend, proposed topics you would like to place on the agenda as well as the titles and brief summaries of any presentations which your staff would like to give during the confersnee.
This information is requested no later than March 31, 1990.
The conference will be held at the Valley Forge Hilton, King of Prussia.
Pennsylvania, Based on initial projections of attendance, we have set aside a block of 50 rooms at the Valley Forge Hilton.
