Bert Davis Regional Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 RE:

Samuel L. Thompson, AMS No. RIII-86-0159 l> ear Mr. Davis, I

have been asked to respond to the December 22,

1988, letter from John A.

Grobe to my client, Sam Thompson.

Mr. Thompson has been extremely patient in regards to-the NHC's investigation of his concerns.

However he did not misunderstand the July 12, 1988, letter to him and takes serious issue with the limitation of his concerns to only the card reader incident.

Additionally, both Mr. Thompson and myself cannot understand why the DRC would administratively - close an investigation into high management of ficials providing: false information to the NRC when the evidence was so strong, in favor of a case with far 1

veaker evidence.

Mr. Thompson expects a response _to his inquiry-promptly prior to pursuing other avenues of relief.

We look forward to your reply.

Sincerely, p bewd Billie Pirner Garde cc:
