Inspection Report No. 50-336/89-20
This letter refers to the routine inspection conducted by Mr. Robert Winters
of this office and Mr. C. V. Codd a consultant from the Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, on November 7-9, 1989 at Millstone Unit 2 in Waterford, Connecticut.
Mr. Winters discussed the results of the inspection with Mr. Keenan of your

staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
This inspection was directed at activities related to steam generator eddy current
testing during the mid-cycle outage. Areas examined during this inspection are
described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report which is enclosed with this
letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selected examinations
of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and obser-

vations by the inspectors.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
We note that a meeting to discuss the results of your mid-cycle steam generator
inspection has been scheduled at NRC headquarters on February 8, 1990. Results

of your evaluation of the eddy current test data, analysis of the removed tube
l'
samples, your estimated rate of cracking, and future inspection plans will be
subjects of particular interest at that meeting.
