However, to complete our review, we need certain additional infomation pertaining to the relief requests contained in the enclosure. To complete our review in a timely manner, you are requested to respond within thirty days after receipt of this letter.
The request for information contained in this letter is specific to Cooper Nuclear Station; therefore, OMB clearance is not renuired under P.L.96-511.

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM CooperNuclearStation(CNS) 1.
Program Interval Under the change in Regulation 10 CFR 50.55a effective Novemb'er 1, 1979, the ISI program, when finally approved, will cover the last 80 months of the c'urrent 10-year inspection interval i.e.', from November 1, 1977 to July 1, 1984 for CNS.
Does this result in any changes NPPD wishes to make in the relief requests? Does NPPD require other ISI relief?

(a) What is the technical justification for code relief?
(b) Has ultrasonic wall thickness measurement been considered as an alternate examination method?
(c) What are the manufacturer's recommendations regarding the disassembly of the pumps for regular maintenance?
(d) Based on the industry' experience with the pumps, what is the likelihood

that the CNS plant will operate ten years without at least one pump being disassembled for maintenance?
