Mr. liarold R. Denton, Director Serial No. 084A Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation PSE&C/DPB/RWC:Ims Attn:
Mr. Robert A. Clark, Chief Docket No. 50-339 Operating Reactors Branch No. 3 License No. NPF-7 Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Gentlemen:
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SECONDARY PROTECTION OF CONTAINMENT ELECTRICAL PENETRATIONS NORTil ANNA POWER STATION UNIT 2 The purpose of this letter is to provide additional information concerning our February 19, 1982 letter, Serial No. 084, in which we requested an extension of the implementation date for License Condition 2.C(10) from the first refueling outage to the second refueling outage of North Anna Unit 2.
This additional information was requested by Messrs. L. Engle and J. Lazevnick on March 3, 1982.
The power circuits which we are committing to keep de-energized when contain-ment integrity is required have been identified in the attached draft Technical Specification (Attachment I).
The Limiting Condition for Operation includes both the circuits which are presently being administratively control-led and those which we propose to keep de-energized.
Our February 19, 1982 letter stated that there were 36 control circuits which already had adequate secondary protection.
Further review since the submittal of this letter has indicated that the final total is actually 38 circuits.
These circuits have previously been reviewed by the NRC and are marked on the Control Circuit Report (Attachment II).
This request has been reviewed by the Station Nuclear Safety and Operating Committee and the Safety Evaluation and Control staff.
It has been determined that this request does not involve an unreviewed safety question, l
l We have evaluated this request in accordance with the criteria in 10 CFR l
170.22.
It has been determined that this request requires a Class III amendment fee.
Accordingly, a voucher check in the amount of $4,000.00 is enclosed in payment of the required fee.
