Update of Emergency Plans

Dear Mr. Grimes:

During our recent on-site emergency appraisal audit, we questioned the need to update our emergency plans in accordance with 10 CFR 50.47 in that our plans had never received final review and acceptance by the NRC.

This matter was followed up by Mr. Charles Hackney, Region IV, and this letter is to confirm our understanding of Mr. Frank Pagono's position on this matter.

On January 21, 1982 we were inforned that Mr. Pagano would accept quarterly submittals of revisions of our plans and procedures until August 1, 1982.

After August 1, 1982 we would comply fully with 10 CFR 50.47 in sutmitting revisions to our emergency response plans and implementing procedures within thirty (30) days of the revisions.

, We appreciate your prompt action in this matter and we believe the above outlined position will avoid a great deal of confusion, and will certainly avoid a lot of unnecessary paper duplication in the period of time when our plans are being revised to comply with various c mments.

Very truly yours,
