Dear Mr. Maurin:
Pursuant to our responsibility under 36 CFR 800 as licensing agency for the operation of Waterford Steam Electric Station Unit 3, the NRC requests information with regard to completing a determination of effect which the operation and maintenance activities of the plant may have on two archeological sites on the Waterford property.
Area 3, the Waterford Plantation Overseers House Site and Area 4, the Waterford Plantation Workers Quarters Site were determined by the Keeper to be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places on January 22, 1982 and now require a determination of effect to be made. As I
discussed in a telephone conversation with Mr. Roy Prados on March 1,1982, the NRC requests that you follow the steps presented in 36 CFR 800.3 and 36 CFR 800.4 in developing the infonnation. Upon receipt of the information, the NRC, in consultation with the State Historical Preservation Office, will complete the determination of effect process.
