g This refers to the telephone discussions between Mr. R. P. Crouse and Mr. C. E. Norelius and others of this office on March 10, 1982, regarding the potential problem of cracking in the safe end mossle on the makeup system and the possible wear on the related thermal sleeve at B&W facilities.
With regard to this matter we understand that you submitted on March 9, 1982 information to the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation justifying continued operation. We also understand that with regard to this problem you wills l
1.
Shutdown the reactor on March 13, 1982 for a normal refueling outage.
2.
Inspect thermal sleeves, gaps, and welds in the safe end norsle area by RT and special Ur using the equivalent procedure / techniques which have been developed for Crystal River and Oconee sites by B&W, 3.
Obtain Region III concurrence prior to restart of the reactor from the refueling outage.
