1 The following are Applicant's supplemental responses to 2 certain of Intervenor's third and fourth sets of interrogatories.

3 4 Supplemental Response to Follow-up No. I-l (Set Three):

5 6 a. A detailed review was performed by the NEL technical 7 staff assisted.by W. Wegst. R. O'Neill and J. Hobson each 8 individually reviewed the document for its general form and content.

9 No records were kept of the reviewing effort.

10 11 Supplemental Response to Follow-up No. II-l (Set Three):

12 13 Since some of the NEL staff provide technical assistance 14 to various contracts and grants unrelated to reactor operations the 15 NEL manager estimated on the basis of his personal knowledge of.the 16 extent of the effort being devoted to technical assistance the 17 rengining percentage of time spent by each of the NEL staff 18 members on reactor operations. The estimate ignored the indirect 19 costs of operations and other refinements in the total cost 20 assessment. More precise and current cost data is contained in 21 the D.C, Rebok letter to J.R, Miller ldatedJanuary 25[1982,which 22 has been forwarded to Intervenor.

23 24 Supplementary Response to Follow-up No. II-27 Set Thre )':

25 26 The " cost" of operating the. reactor is a function of q

I the actual reactor run-time under particular conditions of 2 operation and does not depend ~on port-hours of usage, tha t i s , the 3 number of ports being used, if any are being used, while the 4 reactor is running.

5 6 Supplementary Response to Follow-up No. XII-6 (Set Three):

7 8 Since the time of Applicant's previous response to this 9 question one HEPA filter has been installed; work is in' progress 10 on the other filters.

11 12 Supplementary Response to Follow-up No. XII-30 (Set Three):

13 14 (Originally, Applicant had objected to answering this 15 question which concerned the quantity of fuel at Applicant's 16 facility on. security grounds. Intervenor agreed to restate its 17 question to read: "Was fuel from the second manufacturer brought 18 in because of problems with the first quantity of fuel? If so, 19 describe the problems." As restated, Applicant withdraws its

20 security objection to the question and provides the following l

21 response:)

22 23 No, there were no problems with the first quantity of l

24 fuel that necessitated acquiring a second quantity of fuel.

1 Supplementary-Response to Follow-up No. IV-1 (Set Four):

2 3 TLD data for the fifth quarter of the current testing 4 period has recently become available. That data is attached hereto 5 as " Exhibit A"s 6

7 SupplementaryResponsef.toFollow-uphio.VI-29 (Set Four):

8 9 The individuals primarily responsible for writing the 10 document "The UCLA Reactor is Safe" are W. Wegst and N Ostrander.

11 Educational background and experience for these individuals is 12 contained in the previously submitted response to Follow-up No.
