APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Arkansas Power and Light Company License:
DPR-51 Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 Docket:
50-313 Based on the results of.the NRC inspection conducted during the period December 14-17, 1981, and in accordance with Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (October 7, 1980), the following violation was identified:
Failure to Perform Surveillance Testing Within Prescribed Frequency For Unit 1, Licensee Technical Specification 4.2.2, covering post operational (inservice) inspections of components, states:
" Component
" Primary Nozzle to Vessel 1 RC inlet nozzle to be inspected Welds
.at approximately 3-1/3 years of the inspection interval.
At approximately 3-1/3 years of the interval, one core flood nozzle will be inspected...."
Contrary to the above, at the time of the NRC inspection, essentially 7 years of the inspection interval had elapsed, and the required inspections of one RC inlet nozzle and one core flood nozzle had not been performed.
This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement I.D.2).

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR Part 2.201, Arkan;as Power and Light Company is hereby required to submit to this office witi'in 30 days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation n reply, including:
(1) the corrective' steps which have been taken and the resalts achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further vlolations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
Under tre authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation.
Consideration may be riven to extending your response time for good cause shown.
