Dear Sir:
Subject:
Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Docket No. 50-219 NUREG 0737
Reference:
(a) BWR Owners Group NUREG 0737 Implementation: Analyses and Positions Submitted to the USNRC 12-29-80 The purpose of this letter is to transmit to you our present status of NUREG item II.K.3.44, " Eval uation of Anticipated Transients Combined With the Worst Single Failure." The status of this item is as follows.
We are in agreement with the findings of the BWR Owners Group evaluation of the subject transient. This evaluation, (Reference a) found that in the event of a loss of feedwater transient with the worst single f ailure (for Oyster Creek, failure of one Isolation Condenser loop) adequate core cooling could be demonstrated.
It is therefore our conclusion that Oyster Creek has adequate core cooling capacity in case of a loss of feedwater transient with the worst single failure.
If you should have any further questions on this issue, please contact Mr.
James Knubel, Manager, BWR Licensing at (201 ) 299-2264.
Very truly yours, P. 8. Fledler
