SUMMARY
OF A CATEGORY 3 PUBLIC MEETINGS REGARDING THE REACTOR OVERSIGHT PROCESS FOR AP1000 ON JANUARY 14, 2020 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a Category 3 public meeting to inform the public about the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) for AP1000. The NRC held the meeting on January 14, 2020 at the Augusta Technical College in Waynesboro, Georgia from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Summary of Meeting:
During the meeting, the NRC staff presented its proposals for modifying the existing ROP for inspecting the Vogtle Electric Generation Plant (VEGP), which will have two conventional pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and two AP1000 PWR designs. The staff provided a brief overview of the ROP and a discussion of the AP1000 design and how the design was used to assess and inform the current ROP for modifications. The staff provided several examples regarding the implementation of ROP Inspection Procedures given the four-plant configuration at the VEGP. The staff provided opportunities for questions from the public at several times during and at the end of the presentation.
