6 This refers to our review of your Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP) for the Model No. DT-14 package submitted by letter dated August 2,1978.
We have reviewed your July 21, 1981 response to our April 6,1979 request for additional information needed to review this package. We find that your response is inadequate with respect to the basic issue of containment addressed in our request. The structural question contained in our April 6, 1979 letter has been satisfied by your July 21, 1981 submittal, but the remainir.g items pertaining to Containment, and Testing and Maintenance should be addressed and resubmitted subject to the coments that follow.
To evaluate the performance of a containment vessel it is necessary to establish a criteria for containment. Tests of containment capability performed on a package following normal and hypothetical accident condition tests of 10 CFR Part 71, and test programs developed to ensure continued compliance with containment requirements should be compared to the established containment criteria to detennine adequacy.
Please advise us within thirty (30) days from the date of this letter when the above information will be provided.
