Medical Isotopes Committee Minutes From Dr. J. Peter Tilley 4g Radiology Department Medical Isotopes Committee Date: January 7, 1982 Time: 3:30_p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Meeting called to order by Dr. J. Peter Tilley, Chairman.
Present:
Drs. Tilley, Meals, Kirschbaum, Gladstone, Moore, Mr. R. Binnig and Ms.
Mary Lansu.
Invited guest - Mr. Zaleyowski - lab.
Absent: Dr. Dickerson Previous minutes: Approved as distributed.

Radiation Physicist:
Changes in personnel were noted.. Mr. David Kusner resigned.--Ms. Mary Lansu assumed position on December 1.-
1981.
Interim consultation by Health Physics services.
Reports are'on record.
Ms. Lansu reported that radium leak ' testing was complete and no. reportable' finding-is _present. -Current review of departmental procedures does not demonstrate noncompliance item but a more detailed review will be carried out.
Director - Nuclear Imaging: - Dr. Tilley - No new nuclide use or discontinuation was recommendsd.
Installation of Bender-Blau camera pro-gressing in conjunction with Dr.~ Kirschbaum.
The misadministration of nuclide has occurred in which the wrong patient was injected with a standard dose of Tc-99m - DMSA.
This occurred due to a' requisition being delivered to the department marked with the wrong patient's name.
Proper reporting was carried out.
Corrective action included checking for a charted order by the technician prioi to injection.
Director-InVitro Studies: - Dr. Gladston'e - No requests for additional studies or deletions.
Method of waste disposal reviewed and approved.

Biohazard Committee: - Dr. Tilley - No new applications for'use received.
--- Periodic review of nuclide use areasshowed satisfactory procedures.
--- Technician education program carried out.
Dire.ctor Thereapy and Special Applications:
Dr.' Meals presented a letter recommending discontinuation-of licensure for nuclear powered cardiac pacemaker.
No pacers have been purchased or implanted.
Motion,to accept recommendation unanimously passed by the com-mittee.
Meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
