Dear Mr. Pigott:
As the accompanying order indicates the Appeal Board has scheduled oral argument on intervenors ' Carstens et al.,
application for a stay for Friday, March 12, 1982 at 9"iO Fa.m.
On the day preceding the argument, Thursday, March 11, the Board would like to visit the San Onofre plant site and surrounding area.
In particular the Board would request that the visit include the following:
1.
Tour of Unit 2 or 3 including the control room; 2.
The Emergency Operating Center and other emergency technical support facilities; 3.
Accessible onshore geologic and tectonic features within about 10 miles of the plant; 4.
-The radiological environmental monitoring equipment.
If such a site visit can be arranged the Board would drive up from the San Diego area on Thursday morning, and would suggest that the tour begin at about 10 a.m.
Representatives of all parties in the case shall be afforded the opportunity to accompany the Board on its proposed tour, and should advise you no later than February 26 if they plan to attend.
