/ 7 The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in t T-referenced telephone conversation.- At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.

Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an-Interim Report is attached. It is now expected that this informa-tion will be finalized by June 29, 1982, at which time a complete report will be submitted.

INTERIM REPORT - DER 81-55 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY' ARIZONA PUBLIC_ SERVICE COMPANY (APS)

PVNGS UNIT 3 I.

POTENTIAL PROBLEM A 3" diameter. Construction Service Water line had begun leaking significantly near the Southeast corner of the Auxiliary Building of Unit 3.

A small amount of backfill has washed out, indicating that the backfill in that area may have been disturbed.

The Construction Service Water line has been disconnected.

II.

APPROACH T0-AND STATUS OF PROPOSED RESOLUTION A program will be initiated to:

  • Determine the approximate location of the pipe line leak.
  • Determine the extent of any soil disturbance.
  • Establish and implement (if necessary) a procedure to remedy the problem.

III. PROJECTED COMPLETION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION AND SUBMITTAL OF THE FINAL REPORT Evaluation of this condition and submittal of the Final Report is forecast to be completed by June 29, 1982.
