Marble Hill Nuclear Station By 1etter dated August 21, 1981, you submitted to the NRC a plan to mitigate the consequences of construction of a transmission line near. the archaeological site designated Site 12JE4 (referred to as the McNeil Stone Fort). This mitigation plan was reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Officer from Indiana and found to be acceptable.

Dear Mr. Youngblood:
We have reviewed the proposal by Public Service Company of Indiana and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to avoid McNeil Stone Fort (archaeological site 12 Je 4) during construction of the Marble Hill to Columbus transmis-sion line. Site 12 Je 4 has been determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
It is our opinion that the steps proposed provide adequate guarantees to protect the archaeological site during and after construction of the transmission line. Therefore, the proposed line will have no effect on the archaeological site.
As we indicated earlier, no other known archaeological sites listed on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register will be affected.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service in this matter.
Very truly yours,
~
