Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in the referenced telephone conversation. At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.
Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an Interim Report is attached.
It is now expected that this information will be finalized by April 22, 1982, at which time a complete report will be submitted.

INTERIM REPORT - DER 81-53 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS)
PVNGS UNIT 1 I.
Potential Problem During a termination walkdown inspection, the Main Control Panel Wiring was found to be in violation of IEEE 384-1974.
e NCR EC-1669 identifies Consip installed internal wiring which has bundled Clase 1E wires (red and green) with Non-Class IE wires (black).
e NCR EC-1668 identifies Bechtel Construction termination / routing of cables and wires in violation of separation requirements.
II.
Approach To and Status Of Proposed Resolution Bechtel has requested assistance from Comsip, Incorporated in evaluating and dispositioning the wiring within the control panels. Bechtel will coordinate the Bechtel-installed wiring with Comsip's corrective action plan.
III. Projected Completion of Corrective Action and Submittal of the Final Report Evaluation of this condition and submittal of the Final Report is forecast to be completed by April 22, 1982.
