DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 REQUESTED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF SAFETY-RELATED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 In a January 7, 1982 letter to Wisconsin Electric from Mr. Robert A. Clark, acoltional information was requested regarding the environmental. qualification of safety-related electrical equipment at Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.
It was requested that a number of references contained in our Environmental Qualification (EQ) Central File be sent to Franklin Research Center (FRC), an NRC subcontractor, for evalua-tion with only a copy of the cover letter sent to the NRC staff.
The October 24, 1980 Order for Modification of License Regarding Environmental Qualification of Safety-Related Electrical Equipment issued to Wisconsin Electric for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant requires that " complete and auditable records must be available and maintained at a central location...".
Wisconsin Electric does not believe it is appropriate that we send our Corporate EQ files to the NRC or to a NRC subcontractor.
These files are, of course, available for audit by the NRC at anytime.
However, in this one case in order to expedite the review and evaluation of the equipment qualification status of our Poirt Beach Nuclear Plant, we are sending copies of most of the requested information to FRC (see enclosed list of requested references).
Two of the references listed (items p and z) are not being sent to FRC due to their proprietary nature; these two references
