Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
In the " Corrective Actions" section of Reportable Occurrence Report R0-369/
81 161, Duke Power Company made a committment to install an environmentally qualified cable (Rockbestos Cable RSS-6-104) for the in-containment high range radiation monitor during the "first convenient outage" following
. receipt of a replacement cabic.
Vendor attempts to qualify the Rockbestos Cable RSS-6-104 have not been successful.and further testing is scheduled to complete the environmental
. qualification. Testing should be complete by March 15, 1982.
Although the cable for tne high range radiation monitor has been received at McGuire, installation of the cable is being held up pending receipt of certi-fication of successful environmental qualification of the cable. The earliest possible certification of the cable would be mid-March.
Consequently, Duke Power Company now intends to install the environmentally qualified cable by June 1982.
