-r February 2, 1982 Docket Nos. ';0-277 50-278 Mr. John F.
Stolz Operating Reactors Branch #4 Division of Licensing U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Mr. Stolz:
Your letter of January 7, 1982 (John F. Stolz, NRC to E.
G.
Bauer, Philadelphia Electric Company) forwarded a request for additional information concerning our' response to your Safety Evaluation Report on Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Electrical Equipment.
Your letter directed that we forward the requested information to your contractor, Franklin Research Center.
Since the contractor is located within easy walking distance to our corporate headquarters we suggest that, as an alternate, we will provide space for contractor personnel to evaluate and review the questioned records in our offices at their convenience.
This alternate has two immediate benefits:
(1) this will provide an opportunity for direct contact between our representatives thus allowing a free flow of information and avoiding potential for several iterations of communication between us and (2)-relieve us of potential problems which may arise due to the proprietary nature of some of the requested documents.
Among other things, the attachment to your letter requested a copy of document LLL titled " Motor Manufacture and Insulation Class for Limitorque Actuators".
To our knowledge, we have not referenced such a document and do not understand its OY8 5

Perhaps direct dialogue between our staff and the Franklin Research Center staff can clarify this request.
We have had several recent phone conversations with our Project Manager on this topic.
As a result of these discussions, a copy of Appendix A to our October 31, 1980 letter was given to a representative of Franklin Research Center on January 22, 1982.
In addition, we are able to provide a supplement to our September 3,
1981 submittal which directly addresses environmental qualification deficiencies.
This supplement would be directed to Frcnklin Research Center (copy to you).
If there are any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
)
