SUMMARY

In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Part 50.90 and Part 2.101, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) hereby requests revisions to the Technical Specifications for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The changes relate to proposed Reactor Protection System (RPS) motor-generator (M-G) set modifications.

DISCUSSION By our previous letter (Serial No. NO-82-083), we submitted design information and draft Technical Specifications for upgrading the RPS M-G sets for Brunawick-1 and Brunswick-2. The submittal was made in response to your September 24, 1980 request. Accordingly, CP&L hereby requests that NRC issue the enclosed Technical Specifications changes associated with the RPS M-G set modifications. The technical bases for these modifications were provided in our above referenced le t te r.

ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION You will find enclosed one page each for the proposed Brunswick-1 and Brunswick-2 Technical Specifications with the changes indicated by vertical lines in the right-hand margins. We have evaluated this request (

in accordance with the criteria in 10 CFR 170.22 and have determined that this request involves a single technical issue; therefore, a Class III and a Class I license amendment fee are required for Unit 1 and Unit 2, f/t respectively. Our check for $4,400.00 is enclosed in payment of these gg[;'
