NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY

OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amedment No. 60 to Facility Operating License No. OPR-36, issued'to Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company, which revised Technical Specifications for operation of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station (the facility) located in Lincoln County, Maine..

The amendment was authorized by telephone on December 24, 1981 and was confirmed by letter dated December 28, 1981. The amendment authorizes the isolation of the minimum flow recirculation line for safeguards pumps for a period of not more than six hours on December 24, 1981 only. The amendment was issued on an expedited basis to permit the licensee to repai-a leaking isolation valve.

The application for the amendment comolies with the standards and recuirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commissicn's rules and regulations.

The Commission has mace appropriate finding as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR ChapterI,which are set forth in the license amenc=ent. Prior public notice of this amendment was not reauired since the amendment does not involve a significant hazaros consideration.

The Commission has determined that the issuance of the amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 951.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement, or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be prepared in o

connection with issacnce of the amendment.
