Southern California Edison FACILITY: San Onofre Unit 1 (50-1)

SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD WITH LICENSEE TO DISCUSS STEAM GENERATOR EDDY-CURRENT TESTING On October 3,1977, representatives from Southern California Edison (the licensee), Westinghouse and the Nuclear Regulatory Comission met at the Phillips Building in Bethesda, Maryland. The list of Attendees is contained in Enclosure 1.

The ourpose of the meeting was to discuss the results of steam generator tube eddy-current test results and the licensees plan to return 50-1 to power on October 6,1977. The meeting consisted of presentations by the licensee and Westinghouse which summarized the detailed information in the licensee's report on steam generator tube inspections which was submitted by letter dated October 3,1977. The meeting agenda is contained in Enclosure 2.

Based on the results of the eddy-current testing of steam generator tubes; the metallurgical examination of selected tube specimen removed from steam generator "B"; and visual inspection of the tube bundle, the licensee proposed resumption of S0-1 for a period of 21/2 months.

The licensee will continue detailed analyses of eddy-current data to verify that the absolute and (iifferential tube wear indications are within limits for continued safe operation beyond the proposed 21/2 months operting period.
