INTERIM REPORT, REVISION 2, DER 81-12 POTENTIAL RfPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS)

PVNGS UNIT #1 I.

Potential Problem The pull-out fuse blocks manufactured by Bulldog Electrical Products, Iv.orporated, and supplied as a component of the 480V Load Centers from Gould-Brown-Boveri, were found to have a substantial reduction in the nating force requirement after several insertions and removals.

This condition was raised as a concern by the Project Start-Up Group because there exists a question as to whether the copper female clips provided with the fuse block are capable of performing their safety-related function of unintaining contact af ter many removals and insertions of the fuse blocks during l

the life of the plant.

II.

Approach To and Status Of Proposed Resolution Bechtel has requested assistance from Gould-Brown-Boveri in reviewing, evaluating and dispositioning this condition. Could-Brown-Boveri is currently inspecting fuse block samples.

III.

Projected Completion of Correctiva Action and Submittal cf the Final Report The final report is currently forecast to be completed by March 18, 1982, to allow sufficient time for Gould-Brown-Boveri to complete their analysis of this condition.
