Dear Mr. Udell:
This is in further response to your letter dated July 30, 1981 in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, eight categories of information pertaining to steam generators.
By letters dated August 27 and September 25, 1981, we provided partial responses to your request.
Search and review of the remaining records subject to your request have now been completed.
At this time, we are placing the four records listed on Appendix E in the NRC Public Document Room for your inspection and copying.
These records will be filed in folder F01A-81-313 under your name.
These records contain information which is confidential business (proprietary) information. The document listed as No. 3 on Appendix E contains proprietary information concerning Babcock and Wilcox, and the remaining documents contain proprietary information concerning Westinghouse, the nature of which is apparent in the released segregable portions of these four documents.
This information is being withheld from public disclosure pursuant to Exemption (4) of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C.
552(b)(4) and 10 CFR 9.5(a)(4).
Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.9 of the Commission's regulations, it has been detennined that the information withheld is exempt from production or disclosure and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest.
The persons responsible for this denial are the undersigned and Harold R. Denton, Director, Office of N : clear Reactor Regulation.
This denial may be appealed to the Commission's Executive Director for Operations within 30 days from the receipt of this letter.
As provided in 10 CFR 9.11, any such appeal must be in writing, addressed to the Executive Director for Operations, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC 20555, and should clearly state on the envelope and in the letter that it is an " Appeal from an Initial F0IA Decision".

Dear Mr. Felton,
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 USC E 552, and the Regulations at 10 CFR 8 9 (Subpart A), the Critical Mass Energy project hereby requests copies of, and otherwise access to the information detailed as follows:
1)
All reports or documents which include information about the percentage of tubes plugged and/or sleeved at reactors affected by steam generator leaks and corrosion.
2)
All letters, memoranda, reports, or other documented communication between Westinghouse and the NRC portaining to the status of Westinghouse's proposed solution (s) to steam generator corrosion problems.
3)
A]1 documents containing information on the state of tube corrosion and tube J eaks in steam generators listed in
" Summary of Operating Experience with Steam Generators."
4)
All documents submitted by the Electric power and Research Institute and Steam Generator Owners Group concerning suspected causes and proposed solutions to steam generator degrodation in atomic power plants.
5)
All documents or research notes that are part of the NRC's task force project on steam generators initiated in 1976 under Rusche.
6)
All documents obtained from domestic vendors by the NRC's generator generic task team.
7)
All documents pertaining to or papers presented at the Steam Generators Owners Group 1980 Florida conference.
8)
All documents dealing with the operating status of the Surry reactor's repaired steam generators.
We respectfully request a waiver of all costs you might incur in processing this information or providing us access to it under provisions at 10 CFR E 9, 14a, as the information will be used in the general public l
