We received your correspondence dated December 7,1981, (LL2-81-0283) informing us that you anticipate submitting an updated TMI-2 fire hazard analysis by June 10, 1982. Currently the NRC staff and your staff have a r.umter of open fire protection issues. These items are as follows:
1)
Fire Hazard Analysis Submission to NRC Britus - Licensee has proposed June 10, 1982, as a submittal date (LL2-81-0283, 12/7/81, Barton to Snyder).
- 2) ~ Status - Licensee currently preparing a response.

- 3) Reactor Building Entries Status - NRC will monitor reactor building entry procedures on a case by case basis to ensure fire control commensurate with the proposed operations.
The NRC requests a meeting with your staff no later than the end of January 1932 to discuss and coordinate the above items. At a minimum, you should be prepared to discuss the following:
- 1) A review of all site areas that, because of materials in the area and the potential for a fire, should be of higher priority for fire hazards analysis completion, 2) The staff proposes that the analysis be provided in stages with the higher priority areas such as the containment building being submitted at a much earlier date than June 10,1982, and 3) Be prepared to discuss an interim fire protection program which would remain in effect until the fire protection program reconnendations by the fire hazards analysis are implemented.
