%,,, g #,e December 2, 1981 OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER MEMORANDUM FOR:

Executive Dire toS for Operations /

{j FROM:

John Ahearne

SUBJECT:

REGIONALIZATI0d0 OPERATING REACTOR LICENSING ACTl0NS WORK In your discussions with the Commission on regionali, zation you indicated that initially approximately 500 operating reactor licensing actions could be sent to the regions for handling.

Now that the regionalization has been approved, 1

what is your specific plan on moving licensing actions workload to the regions?

I note that NRR's on-board strength continues to be below authorized levels.

If licensing actions are to be given to the region, it would make sense to transfer some of these spaces now to enable the regions to start recruiting people.
