Dear Mr. Keppler:
On December 8, 1981, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). PSI Quality Assurance personnel determined that existing procedures did not require that specification / design changes made via engineering change notices, specification amendments, or drawing revisions be contractually imposed on suppliers or contractors.
It was their concern that this item created the potential for specification /
design changes to be left unincorporated in the as-built configuration of safety related equipment or structures.
PSI is presently evaluating the potential impact of this item. Based on this evaluation PSI will determine what corrective action, if any, is necessary. This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before April 7, 1982.
