Dear Mr. Keppler:
On December 8, 1980, Mr. T. D. Gelb of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). During receipt inspection, PSI Quality Assurance personnel were unable to verify, using construction records, that certain pipe sleeves had becu installed in their designated locations. This concern pertained to a group of safety and non-safety related piping subassembly and partial component support sleeves of various matcrials.
In an effort to establish the traceability of the sleeves in question an examination of available records was conducted. Based on the results of this examination an cn-site physical inspection of the sleeves was initiated. Subsequent to this inspection a number of slaeves remained unidentified. PSI has submitted proposed actions to correct this sit-uation to its Authorized Nuclear Inspector for review and is awaiting hfs concurrence or comments at this time.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before March 12, 1982.
