Dear Mr. MacDonald:
In response to your request for further information on our application for the use of cement grout to immobilize waste shipped in the General Electric Model 1600 container (Ref. 2, 3) the General Electric Company is submitting as an attachment to this letter a consolidated appilcation which includes a discussion of the reaction of the grouted waste under the Type B hypothetical accident conditions. Our recommended wording for Section 5(b) 1(vil) remains the same except the date " July 22, 1981" should be changed to
" December 1, 1981."
In reference to our application for amendment of August 31, 1981 (Ref. 5) l the wording of Sections 5(b)1(vi) should be:
Solid ncafissile irradiated metal hardware, reactor control rods (blades), reactor start-up sources, and segmented stainlest steel tubes cortaining boron carbide (B4C) provided the total quantity of activity in the B C for each shipment 4
does not exceed a Typa A quantity.

These drawings (129D4735 Rev. O,129D4736 Rev. O,12SD4737 Rev. O, and 129D4738 Rev. 0) should replace those currently IIsted in Section 5 (a)(3) of the Certificate.
